What is roaming?

Roaming is the service that allows you to use your mobile phone abroad: make and receive calls, surf the internet, send and receive messages and use applications.

How does roaming work?

Roaming is included in your rate if you travel to zone 1: European Union, United Kingdom, USA, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, Kosovo, Monaco and Vatican (except if you travel by boat or plane). Check the different types of roaming coverage
They are not included in your national rate when traveling abroad:
Additional or special charging calls or Premium SMS.
Free calls between yu.
Calls between the family of one rates.

What is a roaming zone?

When you travel abroad, each country is in a “roaming zone” where a different rate will apply. There are currently roaming zones 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 (Balkans). Check the roaming zones and rates depending on the country you travel to.
Keep in mind that if you call from Spain to a landline or mobile phone in another country you are making an international call, which is a service other than roaming.

How to enable and disable roaming:

Roaming service is included in your Vodafone rate without activating it. It allows you to use both data and make and receive calls abroad.

In addition, if you have hired a Vodafone TV pack, you can enjoy the service through your devices abroad in the same conditions as in Spain, because it is included in your national rate, although it involves data consumption.

Depending on the area to which the country from which you use the service belongs, it may incur an additional cost in your rate.

To avoid surprises in your invoice when returning from travel, you can manage data and calls abroad as it suits you:

Data usage:

You must have data roaming enabled. Check it in the “Settings” menu of your mobile. To see how to activate it, depending on the mobile model you have, access our mobile and device guides.

Calls:

Although you always have roaming service, you decide if you want to make or receive calls when you are abroad. You have three options to manage it:

1. From My Vodafone. In the main menu, from "My Products", select the mobile line you want to consult. Select the "Rates> Roaming Rates" option. Here, in the “Roaming service status” section, there are two tabs, one for receiving and making calls abroad and one for receiving calls only. Activate or deactivate them according to your needs.

2. Go to your nearest Vodafone store to manage roaming before starting your trip.

3. Contact our customer service, toll free 22123, or 607 123 000, if you call from a landline or from a non-Vodafone number.
